Procedures of automatic landmine identification

Demining in Germany (April 2005)
Qualified preparation and landmine clearance on a former test area of the German Wehrmacht.
Different types of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and glass mines were detected. |
| |
|
| |
Landmines made of glass are difficult to detect because of their extremely small content of metal. In order to find
these mines, the ground material on the whole mapped area is removed in layers of 10 cm to a depth of 50 cm
with a search carried out on every layer.
